New toys!

I love new toys. I'm like a 6 year old boy on Christmas morning. Or so my wife keeps reminding me, her eyeballs rolling skyward. "Merely tools for the job" I reply, with a huge smile, as I excitedly rip open the warehouse packaging.
For the photographers amongst you, I'm going to give this lens a shot. After much deliberation. To fund it's purchase, I'm selling my Nikon 85mm f1.8 (sniff - love that portrait lens) and replacing it with this: the Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro. My reasoning is 3 fold; firstly, it's a supersharp piece of glass at the perfect focal length for portraits (so it's more or less a direct replacement for the 85mm, save the max aperture). Secondly, it gives me that bit more reach (during the speeches, for example). Thirdly, it's a sunning macro lens for shooting all those lovely little details. Makes sense :-)

Oooh! Fab! I've been wondering about getting a Macro lens for my D300. I want to go chasing bugs and beasties :o)

In the meantime my shiny Tokina AT-X 116 PRO 11-16mm f2.8 lens arrived this morning in time for our first anniversary trip to Skye (it hardly seems a year since you were snapping us in our posh togs!). I completely understand the excitement of lens lust, Paul thinks I'm mad and I have a lot less excuse than you do for it!

Best Wishes :o)

Hi Heather!! How's you and Paul? :-) Have a brilliant time in Skye. Must be wonderful knowing you're getting away for some quality time together! Yes, my Tokina 11-16mm arrived last week too. And it's already seen good use! Supersharp and what a perspective on life it gives you :-) Have fun! And keep in touch.

Paul and I are both doing great! Married life suits us both :o) We're headed to Skye to stay in a gorgeous thatched croft in Elgol and conquer some mountains. We went to the Rockies for our Honeymoon so for our anniversary we're still climbing, but closer to home!

I enjoy visiting your blog and seeing more of your gorgeous photos. Our family and friends loved what you did for our wedding! Best Wishes to you and your family,

Heather and Paul
